Hanky Pankies
Okay, reading this recipe probably will put your cardiac health at risk, but my husband and kids really like these. We've been making them in my family for 30 years. They are handy to have around during the holidays.
1.5 pounds of ground beef
1.5 pounds of sausage (I used a mixture of pork sausages including breakfast sausage, Italian sausage and Bratwursts(
1 loaf (what do you call these) of Velveeta (I used the 2% skimmed milk kind), 1 pound
Oregano
Garlic salt
Red hot sauce
2 Loaves of party rye
Directions:
Brown the meats and thoroughly drain off the fat. Add the remaining ingredients and mix in the cheese over low heat until it is melted. Top each slice of party rye with the meat mixture and lay on cookie sheets to cool. Refrigerate (or throw them on a cold back porch like mine) and bag to freeze. When ready to serve toast in a 375 degree oven until brown and bubbly.
